The battle of Sekigahara was the beginning of the rise of the Tokugawa Shogunate. This battle was the most important battle in Japan's Sengoku Era. The battle contained some 200,000 to 300,000 troops. The two forces, Tokugawa Ieyasu and Ishida Mitsunari battled until Ieyasu was victorious. Ieyasu had help from Toyotomi's son. Only a few battles later, and Tokugawa Ieyasu had unified all of Japan. Those who still opposed him were cast into the Date lands, and Tokugawa Ieyasu was crowned the Shogun of Japan.
